Not really fellrunning related but -
James Cracknell is currently in 11th place in the MDS with 1 stage to go. Didn't have him down as being that strong a runner

probably played to his strength of mental toughness? All respect to him!
fantastic effort that, quite a big chap to be doing so many miles, if I remember rightly he was a sub 80 half runner a few years ago
He did London sub three hours last year, and swore he would never do it again, as I recall he said it was the harder than winning gold at the olympics.
He came 11th I think in the national duathlons last month, was really friendly and chatting freely beforehand. If you look at Rodders Rambles' blog, there is a decent photo as he was just behind Cracknell at the finish.
The thing which surprised me was how big Cracknell is, he seemed just massive!!!
He even beat UTMB legend Marco OLMO. To be honest thats the only other name I recognise on there.
Congrats to Paul Dickens as well in at 42nd. For those who don't know Paul did the vasque series grand slam last year.
and Chris Hare from leeds -who came 79th! Chris has been doing a lot of the LDWAs - so some of you may know him! Brilliant Chris **** four gold stars!
also third lady is british and 51st overall - Jennifer Salter.

james finished 12th overall - very impressive.
if i remember correctly (not guaranteed) he was about 22 stone when rowing. even now he must be in excess of 15 stone surely? i wouldn't mind betting that he is twice the weight of the berber gent who won.
just goes to show that if you're stubborn enough and mentally tough enough you can achieve all sorts. that probably makes you a bit difficult to live with (certainly seemed to be the case from the tv programme on his antarctic race), but i don't want my sporting heroes to be all nicey nicey and media trained.
