    Dark Peak Derwent Devil

    Dark Peaks Derwent Devil
    33 miles 8000ft

I came up with this idea whilst training for my BG in 2008. Whilst we have hard rounds on Kinder in the form of the Dozen and the Killer and long tours like the 4 County Tops and the 15 Trigs we didn’t have a hard tour round the Derwent Valley which is a natural circuit.

I spent a year or so linking places that we visit and where Dark Peak races go and added to the places that I like to run to.

The route has plenty opportunity for route choice and navigation, It covers deep heather, tussocks, grass, rocks and tracks, fast descents and steep climbs. I’ve built in plenty of water stops which were much needed today.
For those who are thinking of a BG in the future this would be an Ideal training run.

A full account will appear later. But in the mean time it would be good to get a few repeats.

I'll post a link to my track later

Looks a grand day out Ian! Shame I haven't got my Dark Peak map with me to pass some time tracing the route out. I think I might have to call at the Grinah Stones if / when I did it

I just need to get a successful completion of the KK out of the way (hopefully in May), then I can start looking at the DD...
