don't know which ones closest for you
I think Newburgh nomads are around there, they organise the Harrock Hill Series of fell races.
As our chairman travels through Standish every time he comes to train, you are very much in the catchment area for Horwich RMI Harriers and AC. Recent FRA Chairman and organiser of Winter Hill Race is also a longstanding member - and a few more on the forum. We also organise the Rivington Pike Race and Two Lads Race s well as numerous club races fell races. Happy for you to try us out whether you are a plodder at the back like me or a budding Martin Jones, Mike Short, Paul Dugdale or Katie Ingram. Just PM me or have a look at the website http://www.horwichrmiharriers.co.uk

I'm also from that area, to join Lostock or Horwich how good do you need to be? Just say if you were to run from Great Barn, up to the Pike via the terraced gardens, how long should that take for you to be up to scratch for club running....just curious as I've only ever run solo so nothing to measure against, but would also consider joining a club if felt up to it
dont worry about times etc, try to get down and do a run with one of the clubs. I've only been running since feb (so I'm no champ, far from it). there'll be people of all ages and fitness levels running. If you feel strong then stay up front, if not then drop back with the guys or girls at the back.
hope this helps.
Craig.
