    Buxton/Macc Half??

I have this odd urge to do a half mara and the options are either Buxton or Macclesfield (I only want to do one)

Anyone done both that can comment on which they preferred and why?

Both well organised events. You will run much quicker at macc, but Buxton is well worth it for the views.

macc half isn't really a PB course though, normally a good turn out and well organised

i did Macclesfield last year and enjoyed it even though i wasn't in the best of shape, a couple of gentle climbs but well organised and good turn out of supporters, oh and pretty cheap.

    Buxton is £9

Buxton is a real challenge - fell runners usually do well there! There used to be a well known backwards race from Macclesfield to Buxton (or was it Buxton to Macclesfield)!!

Hmm... could it be Novice and No Vice in the same race?

Already signed up for the Buxton

It made the RW top 10 list for 'memorable' hills (search over there for 'axe edge')
It also made No3 in the top 10 most scenic. But then went on to discuss how tough it was http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/event-...nery/4961.html

Don't think anyone'll do this for a pb, just for the experience and maybe for the apparantly decent T shirts

Oooo quite tempted by the Buxton half. I am very unfit at the moment, but trying to get things back on track at the moment - this might be a good one to aim for, in order to get a bit fitter and just aim to go and run and not worry about times etc, just to enjoy the run

Buxton's a good un - or at least it was quarter of a century ago when I ran it

I remember being in 13th place at top of the first climb up Axe Edge only to drop back to 26th by the finish (nothing changes in that respect).
