here's another snippet....from a climbing website ( thought climbers were too hard to worry about stuff like this ).

In the product range are also Photinizer water bottle covers. These claim that infra-red can also increase hydration by de-clustering water molecules so that the body can more easily absorb water.

Is infra red the new special ingredient ? Why don't they just say its magic

Triathletes....................

I saw a great questionaire once, designed to find out if you were a triathlete. I wish I still had a copy but some of the questions I can remember were along the lines of:-

Are your bikes handlebars...... a) one piece carbon fibre combined tri bars b) clip on tri bars c) racing drops d) at the front
To race do you wear....... a) a strange mankini type garment with tiny tight briefs b) one piece lycra tri suit c) running shorts and vest d) not sure but I last wore it for PE at school
Are your sunglasses...... a) Designer Oakley blades b) copy designer Oakley blades c) Boots own make d) what sunglasses?

etc etc.

Might be fun to do a similar one for fell running?

thanks for that link Ratfink. Lots of robust comment there. It seems like snake oil salesmen are alive and well in the outdoor clothing arena.
Even some relevant science thrown in for free indicating that while there claims might be scientifically valid in fact, they are actually scientifically meaningless in effect. ( the infra red bit .)
