Taken from the Lancaster Guardian report for 2008:
"After a mass start, 45 youngsters set off over the rough, hilly terrain towards the fell gate, turning round at various points according to age. Some sections were particularly tough especially on the slippy rocks through the woods for U12, U14 and U16."

As ever the best policy is to walk the courses before the start.

Ive been told the U18s do the same course as the seniors which is 5m 1200ft it does say in the fra fixture book U18s run with seniors, so the u16s do not run together with the u18s for once ? Guess it will be quite a long race for some with the record being at 36mins and not being touched since 2006 the Female record is 42 mins that was set in 2004 so i guess some people will be out for 50mins+
I ran and ran until my Muscles burned and my veins pumped battery acid, ....And then i ran some more.

There are a lot of photographs of the Clougha race on the Lonsdale Fellrunners website
    http://www.lonsdalefellrunners.co.uk/Home.html
Go to the Pictures section and there are several files full. All pretty localised but you'll get an idea of the conditions.

Cheers tinyman. Most helpful as this is a new venue for the championship.

You'll have to get in to Lancaster.

From there it's just over 3 miles from the centre. Not sure if there's a regular bus out to Quernmore or not.

Train from Manchester to Bolton, then Bolton to Lancaster. Then walk the rest?

Tom, I'll be driving there from Kendal with my lad, happy to pick you up in Lancaster if you let me know what time & exactly where you are..
