    Re: edale on sunday

Good race today, and an excellent day out at the fair.

I'm not drinking 4 beers the night before a race again though - had a mouth like a sand dune from Ringing Roger until Grindsbrook Knoll, and about 20 people came past me.... Cracking descent back to the village though, and I'm fairly happy with sub 45 minutes.

Even my non-running other half was astounded by Stuart Bond's winning margin and how relaxed he looked!

Ditto! And I only had one beer!

Really enjoyed the race though. First time back since 2007 and happy to knock just over 3 minutes off my previous time, considering my lack of racing over the last year or so. Still slow mind you!

    Re: edale on sunday

only decided to run this at the last minute, well 45 minutes before the off when I swapped my marshalling top for my running kit.

2 minutes faster than last year in 41.29 some where around 25th.

Weather was just about spot on. another cracking race.

    Well done every one

Ian I know the view behind me was much prettier but I've had to search the DP photo page for a topless picture of Dark Peak athletism

Congratualtion to both Helen and Stuart (007) who appear to have the Gritstone series sewn up already.

Cheers Geoff. It was weird trying to spot myself on the thumbnails - I was looking for the black and white Fat Boy vest.

Last run in 2019, Edale Country Day Fell Race was back on today as part of the Accelerate Gritstone series. A mini country day this year with plans for the full shebang in 2025.

A tough 4.6 miles and 1,200 feet with most of the ascent gained on the brutal start up the left flank of Ringing Roger. I found it hard work into a strong headwind along the edge of Kinder before the fast descent off Grindslow Knoll. I took the "Trigger" line down and although I didn't get it quite right I still picked up a couple of places. The threatened rain never arrived however a bit of drizzle made perfect conditions temperature wise but also made the slab section a bit slippery!

The race was won by Dan Haworth. I can't find the results so not sure of times and who the first lady was but Abbie Pearse was 2nd. I was 1st M60.

Lots of activities on the showground with a highlight being a Farmer v Fellrunner Tug of War. The Farmers won, 2 nil, even though they were pulling the Fellrunners uphill! These scrawny runners need to put a bit of lard on for a 2025 rematch!

A pleasant day out and nice to chat to Mrs Noel and Tindersticks, who got revenge for me beating him on his home turf .
