An e-mail informs me that it has been postponed due to landowner concerns over the Covid spike in Greater Manchester.

A new provisional date set for 6th September.

It's not surprising, predictable in fact.

That first weekend in September, which would have been the occasion of the Bullock Smithy Hike, seems to be experiencing high demand for rescheduling. The Northants Ultra "Shires and Spires" is also on Sunday 6th.

That weekend is also hopefully going to see the running of the Gladstone Nine (9 mile race on the northern Carneddau), and potentially the Stretton Skyline (although DaveMole suggests in another thread that this is rather unlikely).

Sadly not going ahead on the 6th now although it seems Des is still aiming to organise one for 2020 sometime.

We've been offered a place in the rescheduled race if it happens, or can switch to next year's race or switch to Padfield Plum fair instead on the 27th, which seems to be sure to go ahead.

    Des is a bloody hero.

I've switched to next years race which will be in March.

I did Padfield Plum Fair Scamper 2 years ago. A nice race, plenty of scampering but I never saw a plum!

Alas the fell race is all that survives of the "Plum Fair". The last fair was held in 2013. I just read about why the fair had that name it is quite interesting.

Does anyone know what's going on with the race on 21/7/21? Is it on?

I saw a post a few weeks ago on the Fell Running UK Facebook page asking the same thing. Des confirmed it will go ahead on 21st August.
    Found it here:

Facebook? That tired old relic again?

Well, one will need to pre enter, won't one. I've posted asking for details of how to enter, as Des isn't answering the phone at the moment.

This is looking like a Derbyshire stitch-up to me. It's a plot to keep Yorkshire runners away from the spoils. All this means is that the bogs are going to be double-watered when Gt Whernside is a champs race again. Unless you know the secret Wharfedale route you'll be drowned and lost forever.

We're used to watery bogs down here in the Peak. You won't out-bog us!
