    Turbo trainer sessions

Anyone know any good turbo trainer sessions that work well for both fell running and cycling?

Managed to aquire meself a freebie, not really the time of year for these things I know. But as it's new (to me) I cant help but want to have a quick play. And at the very least figure out how to use it.

It's equipped (sort of) with an HRM, but no cadence monitor unfortunately!

there's the infamous '2 x 20' session, which basically involves working at a constant rate near threshold for 2 x 20 mins with a five-minute rest spinning lightly in between

you can measure 'near-threshold' effort by power or by HR apparently - I measure it on the gym bike by the flow of sweat off the end of my nose

you'll find hods of info if you google it - including this bikeradar thread:

eh up - i actually paid to download a sufferfest film (Angels) - it's an hour wok out with some warm up then some intervals with bike race footage.

efforts are described as a mark out of 10

it's about £7 - tried it out ended up with a right puddle of sweat on the floor - thought it was dead good

    I took the following TT sessions from the Chester Tri site last year, you will have to re-jig them for you own % heart rates;
I've just decided I don't trust you anymore.

There are a few fell running specific sessions in sarah Rowell's book if I recall...

    Yup, pages 108/109.

I would post the session on the forum but the author has shown litigious tendencies on a previous thread.

for complete beginner and someone who has no idea of TT sessions, what bike you do em on normal excercise bike?
They seem complicated are they, and are they easy to follow?
    How do they benefit you
when best time to do them ?
    Thanks
    Peter

    Re: Turbo trainer sessions

Ta for all those that posted on here btw

    Peter

Best solution I found was to get a mountain bike with quick tyres and go outside regardless of the weather and pedal like hell up every hill. Probably not as productive as a well structured TT session, but suffering in the garage has it's own ways of trashing your motivation and resultant fitness
