Yes, I guess different things work for everyone. I wonder how many sports nutrition programs would recommend jelly babies....! Can't say until you've tried. I once went on a race recce and half way round one of the guys took out a slice of Battenburg cake and began to devour that!

Toying with the gels idea simple for ease of carrying them. On the longest race I've done (Tanky's) I had good support at the checkpoints and was managing to drink up to a litre an hour plus Mars bars and that saw me through. Hoping to "refine" the 'nutritional support' for Snowdonia....!
