Yes, they do a good job. I only live 6 miles away so can drop and collect although my uppers usually go before my soles!

They've been doing it since the late 70s at the very least and have a good reputation. Might send them my 1983 Walsh PBs, they deserve a service.

I've had a few pairs done, usually great, watch for sole placement though, the fell studs are fairly widely placed apart and on a narrow heel if they make a poor choice as to positioning the sole the heel becomes unstable (studs biased to one side on heel strike area). I had one pair back that were in the bin after one trip out.
There must be a gap in the market for a universal replacement sole that would be betterin this respect, particularly given the expense of some shoes. When I were a lad you could get at least 4 soles on a walsh before junking them & I'm not even from Yorkshire.

Well, they tell me they still stock the old Walsh hedgehog sole. I've spent a couple of hours sewing the shoes back together and they're off for a re-sole. I'll let you know how they turn out.

Brilliant, just noticed LSR's address; 19 Athletic Street, Burnley.

They are a nice shoe DT, bought them for running on sand in the Gruenewald in Berlin in '83 to '86, but they're also great on snow and grass. The stipply sole is very hard wearing, though I have to say, they've barely touched tarmac. Trouble is, after 3 years of going barefoot in Cyprus, my feet are wider than they used to be and I have to tailor my shoes to fit a bunion in.

Anyway, I'm going to have 'em fixed because I'm worth it.

Got my shoes back after 3 weeks (there's an express service for an extra fiver, I think). The only disappointment is that they don't stock the original hedgehog soles, so something must have got lost in translation into Lancashire speak). I was after the original merely on a whimsical basis, though.
So, they've fitted their own sole, which is a pretty chunky pyramid. Wore them today at Sedbergh, a chiefly grassy course, and it all went well, I'm still a wuss at descending though.
Possibly the oldest shoes in the race at 27 years? So, I'm pleased, especially as the sole came off my Inov-8 Mudrocs at Stickle Tarn last week and I was only out for a walk with the family.

Got mine in December and they still seem to be okayish, will probably send them to LSR in a few months time... I've moved over to x-talons in the last few weeks while the weather has been dry.
