    Beetham Sports

I'm up in the lakes for my hols this weekend, the inlaws are their two children aged 4 and 8 are coming along.

I would love to get a race done but dont want to appear selfish. Beetham Sports sounds like an ideal race to take them a long too due to the carnival and traditional Lakeland stuff going on.

I cannot find anything about it on the internet to assist me in building a case to get ourselves down there.

Can anyone help me by letting me know what sort of things go on at these sort of lakeland events and will they appeal to children of that age.

    Cheers
    Jamie

    Hi, there's a little info. here:- http://www.yourguide2thelakedistrict...2010-i713.html

The fell race is organised by someone from our club (Lonsdale Fell runners). It's a fully flagged course, just over 5 miles, with 1000 ft. of ascent, around tracks, fields and forest.

I went last year with the family and it was a good fun event, childrens races from sprint to a mini fell race as well as egg and spoon, etc. There's also senior track racing - 800m and 400m if i remember rightly. Last year there was cumberlan wrestling.

The Oasis wild life park is south of Beethem on the A6, right next to the main road, you cant miss it. Not been for a while but it used to be a good place to spend half a day

Really enjoyed this race today. Bit slippy underfoot and definitely glad I took the fell shoes. First time for me and would recommend to anyone who fancies a fast one. Great views of Morecambe Bay too.

Race 27 of 50@50. Beetham Sports Day Fell Race
What a brilliant day out. Beetham Sports day is a super family fun day. We will be coming along to this again next year and I will have a go too.

https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Nigel-Jeff Once again thank you so much. The Thomas Theyer Foundation is very grateful. Thomas's family are raising money to build two outdoor activity lodges for kids and young people with additional needs and difficult life circumstances. Thomas had ADHD and running helped him cope with his condition. He was a very keen fell runner who ran for Buxton AC and a thoroughly nice young man. Very keen on keeping fit and healthy. He was out running on Parkhouse Hill near Buxton when he fell and died of his injuries in July 2013. He had turned 18 just a month before. We are immensely proud to be helping to raise money for this wonderful local charity.
