That might have been a PB race, no times are up yet, but I was 23rd. I tried to back load my race and have a late gel in the woods going up the hill. People were constantly picking me off on the way to round hill including an old lady who turned out to be Jo Buckley, it's an attritional section for me. To my surprise nobody took the left trod after CP1, so I flew down it unhindered. It must be out of fashion as it's still faster, and I gained about a minute. People were tiring on the way to ellercarr pike and I kept the pace high taking back more places, I was shagged at the final CP but more was required. Another push along the track to catch the next two who slowed at the cattle grid so i went hard and early, nobody went with me.
Turns out 8 missed CP3 so it was worth going to the presentation in case I got lucky, which I didn't. Overall a strong run.
The boy done good. Well done Luke. Sorry I couldn’t chat more, but I was busy. You were 1.09.21. And 21st.
Not a PB then, i was looking for sub-67. Looking at the results hardly anyone went under 1hr which is unusual; and it was a big field too. Maybe it's a slower course now it's overgrown, the often missed right turn trod is certainly slower.
