The old Alfer will be doing this one for the first time. It usually clashes with Ovenden but that race has been rescheduled to February this year so no excuse this year to miss The Hebden I have not reccied it but I know most of the route from other runs in the area so it should be straightforward. I won't be hurrying and intend to have a full sampling of food round the checkpoints

    See you there!

Entered entirely on the premise of checkpoint food & drink, after seeing checkpoint 1's speed back in 2010 when you led us on the Wadsworth trog recce!

I can still picture it now ha!

Oh I remember that recce all too well! I remember seeing the groaning table of cakes and thought a.) it was a mirage and b.) when realising it was real that they were for us!
I still blame you/ thank you as being one of the reasons I got into this fell running lark after your excellent recce that day Alf!
Good luck and happy feasting in the Hebden,
    you certainly deserve it!

I was thinking just that. Lightly frozen ground means abnormally fast conditions for Calderdale. I remember the deep mud with a gale trying to blow us off our feet last year making progress difficult and energy sapping.

Thanks Rachel nice of you to say that. I always remember that comment you made on the recce when I sank into that deep snow drift

"I'm surprised you sank so deep cos you aren't a fat ******" ! I knew then that you would do well in fell running

See you there mate. Coincidentally I bumped into Dave (dogruf) on Sunday at the Trigger and the first thing he mentioned was that recce.
