    English Champs?

Do you have to be English -or have English eligibility- to compete in the English Champs, or just be a member of an English club?
I've just decided I don't trust you anymore.

There are a number of ways to qualify - page 99 of FRA calendar.
As far as you are concerned the most important one is "must not also compete in an other National championship as an individual". If you are doing the Welsh championships you can't do the English.
    Sorry Ian.

    Re: English Champs?

Hypothetically speaking, at what point will I have taken part in another National championship? Am I able to compete in 3 races in the Welsh Champs -thus not completing the champs- & still compete in the English?

Where is the line drawn? When do the blazers get excited?

I shouldn’t imagine that any of the blazers would be too miffed if they found out that little-old-you was doing the Welsh champs as well as the English.

But let’s face it, the only championship which really counts is the British, and as the British is just a repeat of the English (with the odd exception such as Angela, who is, let’s face it, as Scottish as I am!), the whole idea of having a rule which says that competitors in the English can’t be competitors in the Welsh is just a joke.

    Re: English Champs?

No it's not. The Welsh Championships should be about finding the best Welsh or Welsh resident fell runner.

The Scottish Championships should be about finding the best Scottish or or Scottish resident fell runner.

The English Championships should be about finding the best English or English resident fell runner.

and the The British Championships should be about finding the best Brit or Brit resident fell runner.

If not why have the different Championships?

Of course there are welsh people living in England and vice versa, but I thinkit maintains the integrity of the British Champs by only allowing eligibility for one of the national championships.

Thinking of noone in particular, what about a fast (flying?) Scotsman living in Wales?

    Re: English Champs?

If its the one I'm thinking of I thought he lived up in Scotland again?

And sorry yes, I realised you could qualify for 2 that way, but still feel you should only be eligible for one.

If not whats the point in the British Champs?

    What do you think?
