When are you planning your BGR?

You not tempted for a paddy Buckley Round or have you already done it?

Now seriously considering an attempt at the PBR this summer, depending on weather and how I feel after the WHW Race.

I totally disagree. The only championship is the British. The Welsh, Scottish etc are a bit like veterans prizes – they’re just there to maintain interest among the also rans. I can’t see the point in having an English Championship – it’s just a repeat of the British.

    Re: English Champs?

That's fair enough, just do the British then.

But others like the National Championships.

I do think there's a sheep mentality about Championships, and people wanting do more than one National Championship supports this.

If you win, say, the English Championship, and then run to be the British Champion, why would you want to be the Welsh Champion as well? Surely beating the Welsh Champion in the British Champs is enough.

Can't believe I've taken the bait here...

Actually thug, by your 'logic' the only championship is the world championship, and in comparison to that the British championship is merely there to provide interest to the also rans.*

Yes, yes, the world championship (either trophy or skyrunner) is run on different styles of courses, but then each of the home countries championships offers distinctive courses as well.

*please note this is thug's logic, not mine.

There’s a world of difference between logic and statistics.

Regardless of the anti-US bitching about baseball (amusing and true though it may be), if the WMRA champs were to be run using our standards (rather than in parks, vinyards and ski slopes) then I think you’ll find that the World would just be a repeat of the English/British too.

    I doubt it.

Why should a minor sport from the north of England be used to set the standard for a world championship?

I have enjoyed running in many wild places around the world.
