The 1 and only Tri race to do at the end of the season with added interest of course for t' fellrunners. Theres nowt better than hurtling past cautious roadrunners on the monster descent. Anyone else on ere doing this?

Bring on The Struggle......
yes it's a great course and race, and I'm down for it again
though the Struggle seemed a bit over dramatically titled ? is that the steep 50 yds at the bottom, the downhill bit in middle or the steep 50 yds at top ? lol....not a patch on the tougher western climbs like Honister and Hardnott
seiously, I found the running the most competitive bit of the race, most people seemed to be drawn fron the North and well versed in hill running, atleast in the top 50 or so, and with no opportunity to take a chance on your own lines on the descent, the twisty trail run was pretty tricky to move on up the field, and harsh on the road section at end...i think i had to sprint it out from two others in the last 100yds :-S
think The Noor normally secures a top placing in this race
Will be up for my double weekend - Grisedale Saturday and Helvellyn Sunday. Usually, from where I'm usually located, I have lots of catching up to do on the run section, and after numerous bikers have passed me, I then have to shout "make way for a shuffler" on the ascent as they're all walking up and blocking the steps/path....grrrrr.
Hope to go for usual mad descent this year although put my ankle over at Reservoir Bogs (the easy part as well!) in June, and am still recovering (and possibly tentative?).
A fun weekend indeed!

Enjoy it Clive... Helvellyn has to be one of my all time favourites... but can't do this year:boohoo:
big respect for doing grisdale then helvellyn tri.....a pretty warm weekend for so many hills !
Thx Triathlon. I wasn't the only one, another tri mate Big Willy beat me on both days of the double. Also I know that there were two other mates doing the Vitruvian the day before, for another double!
Awesome weather tho, and as said earlier, first Lakes race in just shorts and running vest (no extra cover Helly) and first tri in just trisuit. The views were absoultely awesome, stunning. Maybe that's why I'm slow, as I feel life is just too short to ignore such splendid scenery.
Can hardly walk this AM mind, quads not happy one little bit.

I think (awaiting results) I might have finally, after 5 years of trying, got in the top 10.
28 min swim, 2hr 5min bike and a 1hr 19min run.
Was goosed at the end, but been for a run this morning and feel jolly good, all things considered!
I did however, get close on 10 hours sleep last night...
Why walk when you can run.
