Rodopi Mountains National Park, Greece
Rodopi Ultra Trail (ROUT), is a tough adventure footrace strictly for experienced runners who compete in semi-autonomy conditions a distance of 164 kilometers (100 miles) running or walking along abandoned paths and trails through the tremendous scenery of the Rodopi Mountains National Park in Northern Greece, renowned for its unique wilderness.

The area where the competition takes place is characteristic of mountain forests in Greece and is part of the "National Park Rodopi, one of the areas of rare natural beauty and biodiversity
(Bear, deer, chamois, deer, etc.).
Timeout termination are valid 44 hours. The route has a common starting point and finishing the Forestland "Erymanthos" in Hyde. To participate in ROUT requires substantial skills such as experience from ultra trail races in the past.
The path of ROUT 161 km in length and overall positive elevation of over 7950 meters. For the most part, the path consists of paths and monopatodromous (about 68%) while complementing forest roads moderate primary patency (30%) and a few kilometers of asphalt (2%). The race has a circular character with start and finish in Forestland Erymanthoy in the area of Hyde, the first 41 km of track to be the last of 41. In summary, the route starting from the area of Hyde, passing through the Vathyrema, arrives at the village of greenery, hill climbs and descends the beech site in Roe continues to the elevation of Kaikouli, descends to Farasino stream continues from Kroussovitis stream region Zagkrantenia, Gioumourlou Alikioi and the Grand Stream (or Arkoudorema) and the banks of the artificial lake Platanovrisi then come back after the deer upside down following the first tranche of 41 km (Beech, verdure, Vathyrema) to reached Forestland Erymanthos where ends.
The ROUT is a struggle aimed at athletes who understand the concept of ultra trail race as a challenging adventure. The basic parameters, identifies him as a match set to test the physical and mental stamina of athletes, an adventure race that is the sense of increased uncertainty regarding the outcome of the efforts of athletes, because of objective difficulties. With just six channels of support, requires the athlete to rely almost exclusively on its own merits, katastronontas strategic plan to address this reality.
Without going through residential areas effectively, and for a distance of 161 km, the player is integrated perfectly into the natural environment, with the exception of contact with the staff of the organization to support stations.
With few participants and no presence of spectators, the sense of isolation is particularly acute, mental strength testing of athletes, who are called to overcome all alone an entire night, at least!
The philosophy of ROUT distills the experience to date of the organizers of the games ultra trail, placing greater emphasis on well known factors such as isolation and autonomy, the constituent elements of adventure, which eventually want to instill in athletes as the dominant philosophy organizers.
