Good email providers (free)?

For email I mainly use Yahoo, mostly like the way it's organised but get really sick of the in-your-face ads. I also have Gmail, where the ads are quite unintrusive, but I don't like/can't understand their system - they seem to delete emails from my Inbox without consulting me! Can anyone suggest an easy to use, low-spam, free email provider, preferably resistant to hacking??

If you use Firefox you can get a plug in that blocks the main ad in Hotmail. I have used Hotmail for around 14 years now without issue.

I do use Firefox. Is there a plugin that blocks ads in Yahoo?

whose instructions seem to have worked the miracle of blocking the ads infesting my Yahoo email inbox. Joy!
