    Wood looking Beautiful

On the route of The Lyke Wake/Cleveland Way is Clain Wood , before Scugdale and Huthwaite green if travelling West to East. Clain Wood is stunning at the moment, lots of native Bluebells, Campions, stitchworts, Forget me Nots, Deer, even owls later on. Some of the Larch is being harvested but otherwise the wood is a joy to run through.Great tracks and a nice hill for hill repeats .

I've got a Christmas cactus which hasn't flowered for the last two years. Do you have any suggestions?
Tao begets one. One begets two. Two begets all things.

Thumbs up Re: Wood looking Beautiful

    Hi Alf,
Also shared with the Wainwright's Coast to Coast route! - which I had the pleasure (well would have if the weather had been a bit better!) of doing around this time last year (E-W). I spent some time airing my kit on the memorial seat there (just on the edge of the wood overlooking the field back to Huthwaite Green) having got an early start from Lordstones cafe (bivvy bag helps!). What a wonderful morning it was too - most enjoyable, trotting over the moors (sadly mostly paved now) and the woods, as you say, were delightful before the climb to Scarth Wood Moor... the rain didn't come till Danby Wiske... and by, did it rain...
This is how the wood looked last May - I would imagine there will be more bluebells this yr after a good April?

Put it next to my Easter cactus which is looking rather sorry for itself to see if they cheer each other up!

Yes lightweightmick , great photos and very similar.
In answer to the Christmas Cacti question, put it outside in frost free spot, not too sunny and protect from slugs (put a band of copper tape around the pot available in garden centres) In september bring inside , don't water, force it to create flower buds. When these are filling out start watering and a little feed (Phostrogen /Miracle gro , not baby bio). Hey presto flowers. On the whole Christmas cactis seem to thrive on neglect and love a summer outside, but strong sun will scorch them and slugs love em.
