    Memory map help!!

I've just turned my MM on and it didn't open up properly, So went in to menu and asked for Darl Peak map which duely appeared

However every track, route, way point, note have gone!!!!All my tracks from big days out on big hills in Scotland/Bg/Ramseys Gone.

There is nothing there. I've also lost all my Scottish and welsh maps as well, WTF, I've searched all the menus to see I've "switched some thing off" no joy. I've rebooted the computer to no effect Any ideas.

not had direct experience of this. howvere it sounds like a configuration problem ie. the MM program is not 'pointing' to wherever your track files are stored. I'll have a look through the help files.

hope it gets resolved, I know i'd be gutted if I lost all my tracks.

it seems that if you load the BACKUP.MMO file your tracks etc will be fine. this depends on your version and if the tracks have indeed been backed up.

    worth a try tho

    Cheers Superfly.

I have found a back up file for MM which was updated last night when I closed the programme down, it has 6,000KB of info so it should be there but I can't get it to open/restore at the moment. but fingers crossed.

I did have a thought that most of the WP will be on my GPS but not the maps or routes.

If you have lost the data and it can't be restored then let me know, I may be able to rebuild the files for you using some recovery software. If all else fails we could chip in with routes (gpx). I'm sure we've covered a lot of your routes, 4 county tops, derwent devil, tankys etc

State of play is I have found the back up file but EVERY time I try to open it I get a box coming saying

Mem Map navigator has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for inconvenience.

Below it it has the Microsoft debug box-send error report!

When you close this box MM closes down.

    might be worth reinstalling MM.

make sure you save the backup file to another location so it doesn't get overwritten!

I had a problem a couple of months ago and I found a fix on the WEB

I got this message when I tried to start it up:

Microsoft error report- "Memory-Map Navigator has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for any inconvenience

    Solution:

"Sounds like a corrupt overlay file. If you go into your DOCUMENTS > MAP OVERLAYS directory and delete any file that does not have the word BACKUP as part of its file name. Does Memory-Map now open?"

If you are worried about deleting them then just move them into another directory somewhere else instead. This worked for me as I was bricking myself at the time.
