I don't really suffer from cold feet to be honest, as long as I keep running. They get chilly if I stand still for long though. Last winter I had an episode where I ran into a deepish puddle in the woods thinking it was only 50yds or so, and it ended up being about a quarter mile of icy calf deep water. I was pretty numb after that and couldn't feel my toes for about 20 mins.
Try wearing the seal thingys and not eating them Mr Penguin. Unnecessary diversions off piste also means extended time out in the cold on your trotters so this could be a contributing factor...........Originally Posted by Penguin

Hi Sefton, I went to the Heat Holder's website and found a long list of stockists, but so far when I go to THEIR sites there is no mention of Heat Holders. I wonder what's going on? Where did you find them? And are they really better than Bridgedale Comfort Summit, which is what I wear now when I'm not wearing Sealskinz with liners?

I've worn them there Smartwool socks with roclites before, in winter; although to be honest I did more walking than running then, but they DID help keep my feet a bit warmer, even when wet - wool, y'see; Just ask a sheep...
Yep, agree with the Smartwool socks, wearing mine for running today. 80% merino wool, machine washable and very cushty.

and a pair of thigh-length compression leggings to keep the blood a little warmer on the way down.
try sockshops main website if you want to buy online, not sure if the stockist websites are e-commerce? however they all sell them instore.
it depends on what you mean better...they are warmer than anything else on the market. but thats just warmth.
if you want a hard wearing walking sock then you simply cant touch the likes of Bridgedales. or if you want a waterproof sock - seal skinz.
you have to bear in mind Heat Holders retail for around £5 too.
After a long day out in the snow yesterday I learnt something about the neoprene socks I was wearing
I had a fairly dopey day.
When I got back to the car I could only find one of my woolen socks to change in to, luckily I had another pair so I put these on the passenger seat and drove a few miles until my laces had thawed out.
I stopped and took my shoes off, the mystery of the missing sock was solved:
On my left foot a neoprene sock.
On my right foot a smartwool running sock.
Had one foot been colder than the other ?
No.
Sealskins
just rubbish
they are not warm, they do not keep your feet dry.
They do fill up with water and add weight on to your feet.
Let the seals keep their skins I say.
So there you have it.
