    Foel fras

    Are many doing this race?

Last time I looked at the starting list on the fabian 4 website not too many had entered. http://www.fabian4.co.uk/start/list.aspx?EventID=65

I'm doing the PB leg of the glyders until 7 am Saturday, so have entered in the off chance rain postpones it, if not I'll see how I feel and may just jog around it as I'll be knackered.

    Red face Re: Foel fras

How was the race Ian ?

Was my intention as I have been in that neck of the woods this last week to do this one but at the start time I was at the venue for the Moelwyn 3 peaks race . My excuse was that I did not take my handbook with me nor have I had access to t'internet - Oh well Cader Idris next week........

Good race, its a very runnable race with a long steady asent on a 4x4 track, and then a long traverse through the beras, a short techincaldescent through heather and boulders, then on trails with a few ups towards the end as you drop into Aber.

I've not seen all the results yet but Alan Vaughan won in 1:31 - 1: 32 ish, Francis ?, a student from the University second, Colin Donelly third both in something like 1:34 ish, Tim Hingginbottom 4th 1:36 ish, with me in 5th 1:38-139 ish. I'm fairly sure all the top 4 were inside the old course record of 1:36.

The weather was great, my shoulders are burnt. and even though the wind was strong, gusting 50 mph it was only against you for a few small sections.

    Re: Foel fras

i`ve just plotted the race course on my gis mapping system on my computer ,and the distance that i came up with was approx 11.5 miles and not the advertised 13.5 miles.even the old race route was out by 2 miles
