Glad you enjoyed the Wrekin, and you'll all be made welcome down at Newport RC. I only joined myself in the Summer and they are a friendly bunch.
Just seen Al Tye's photos - what a glorious sunny day it was - you must have been at a different race Alan!!

quite a sight to crest the second climb and have the rain relent, clouds disperse and see for miles and miles and miles

It was gorgeous once the rain had lifted, but quite cool in the wind. The speed you runners were going though, you wouldn't have noticed, it would have been nowt but a mild inconvenience
You're right, when I saw those pics I wondered if I'd been imagining it all, maybe I was affected by the beer I had on Saturday night

Another lot of great photos !

    I don't think there's ever been more photographers at a race .
I hope you don't mind , I've pinched one for my blog . If you do mind let me know and I'll take it off .

    Cheers

Thumbs up Re: Wrekin Wrecker : difficult

Under estimate this race at your peril
Three terrifying descents especially when you twang your ankle at the begining of the first descent, and the second climb is awesome!
A great race and a brilliant route
Kind of like Rivington but bigger
A good alternative to doing the Tour of Pendle
especially if you have not trained for it.
This race still has the toughness without the distance.
Also great food and drink in the Hotel after.
