I dabbled a bit but only acoustically. I'm a guitarist at heart. My daughter has an e kit though.

Thanks for the reply Pete I have to say drums appeal to me as a potential means of maintaing co-ordination and flexibility because of the need to use all four limbs + my brain, seems like a good way to warm up before setting off for a run to me.

e- drums are a must beause I like my music LOUD , but finding the right kit is going to take a fair bit of research.

Totally get that - definitely a good brain and physical workout!

My daughter has a Yamaha kit. She had a good, basic starter kit but then we upgraded so that she had 3 zone snare and cymbals. That gives you the ability to do virtually everything you can with an acoustic snare e.g. rim shots, side stick and also gives you far more variety on the cymbal nearly as good as an acoustic.

Thanks guys all good usefull information and I am narrowing my choices down and this kit :-

    https://www.alesis.com/products/view2/nitro-mesh-kit

with this addition is coming out on top:-

    https://www.musicinstrumentnews.co.u...xpansion-pack/

I figure that as a beginner that combination is going to cover all bases for me and if I take to it I can always upgrade later any thoughts/suggestions most wellcome .

I guess I need to get a move on if I am going to get my kit before the next lockdown

My son too has a Yamaha kit. We looked into e-kits, but they're expensive and his teacher said an acoustic kit was better unless you pay a lot. I guess it depends how much noise those around you are prepared to put up with.

Good luck finding something. Youtube is awash with people showing you how to play drum parts of lots of songs.
