My team is in after all. People who think they are not in will do well to check with the organisers as a number of emails they sent out on 8th Dec were not reaching their recipients.

Very pleased to hear you will be treading the Watershed again...... with the usual suspects I presume.....?
Or have you drafted some more aged aspirants to overcome the RC Mega Vets!?

Does anyone know of a source of the route of The Watersheds? I plant to have a bash on my own sometime, i have a fairly good idea from Macc and the Art of walking but i wondered if there was a firm route? I can't find anything on the net.

I think DW is the same route as HPM, but DW starts and finishes at Yorkshire Bridge. The Rucksack Club invented the route and they seem to acknowledge it's the same (see para. three on link below):

I've walked the Derwent Watershed route twice (before my running days) - I probably got the idea from one of the many John Merrel walking books. Apart from starting and finishing at Yorkshire Bridge the main difference is the fact that you should try to follow the TRUE watershed - i.e. you don't cross any streams on the route at all. From what I can remember, the most significant route change made by the HPM are from Moscar to Derwent Edge, then from Back Tor to Margery Hill. Also, the strict route over Kinder should take you to Crowden Head and Pt. 636, but I shouldn't worry too much about that as the western edge path is still enclosing all of the tributaries of the Derwent.

Cheers that seems to be the gist of what 'Macc' says.

    Talking High Peak Marathon

Is anybody running the high peak marathon this year?
We have a team in, it looks great. Should be a real challenge.

    Re: High Peak Marathon

To get this thread going again,

Does anyone have the GR's of the checkpoints or even a Mem Map down load etc of the full route. If I can't pick up an entry in another team I might go for a jog round!
