Ok This is what the team got up to whlie we ran round.

One of the best articles I've seen on MR for a while. Well worth a read, I just wish I was out with them....Oh wait I was....
I bumped in to Milo's dad yesterday on the hill

    Hpm 2012

Having not got in last year and only got in via hodge podge, last minute replacement (of replacement) teams the previous two years, I would dearly love to do this with a proper team. I feel sure I could get a team of hardy volunteers together but have been somewhat disenchanted with my chances of actually making the draw. Its fantastic to get psyched up for the event and a complete bummer to then not make it and its bleeding hard to get past the machinations of the draw that favours past competitors and locals. I'm not griping at the rules by the way, the HPM organisers can do what the hell they like, but I think I calculated my team's chances last year of getting in as something like 1 in 15 and, surprize, surprise we didn't make it!

Anyway I love the event, especially the 'lovely' High Peak weather at that time of year (and night ) but less love being dragged round by two 'leave you for dead if you don't keep up nutters' as was the case in 2010. Anyway HPM 2012 details can be found here -> http://highpeakclub.union.shef.ac.uk/hpm/hpm-index.html

I must sdmit that the HPM sounds like the worst thing in fell running, but I suppose it's there and it's got to be done at some point...

Fortunately I've got a lot of other things to do on that weekend before I have to resort to stumbling round featurless moorland in the dark.

Mind you, the Dark Peak probably looks better in the dark.

...I hear it's a good test of many fell running skills...and not one for the fair weather summer runner..

It is sort of addictive, I did say after my first race I'd never do it again, this will be my 5th.
Time to sort my team out I guess.
