This is another so called 'mountain race' without a mountain.

The presence of mountains nearby, or a vaguely undulating XC course on the flat part of a mountain, doesn't make it a mountain race to my mind.
According to the blurb on the website it's 1 short lap & 1 long lap for the 55+ which adds up to 8.68km not 5k

    Epocian,

If you like facts please post elsewhere.

Good to see Stockport, the undoubted centre of world sport getting some much deserved recognition.

I often run home through Woodbank Park. Local knowledge could be crucial at next years trials.

They have have changed the course from the one originally advertised. Its now about 11km/620m for U55 and 8.6K/500m for 55+.

Mountain Running Advisory Group. It is the committee within UKA that deals with events like the WMR Champs. Chaired by Sarah Rowell. The FRA Representative is Alan Barlow.

.................... I hope we don't end up in a public park - I just think that it will discredit our discipline.

How about Witton Park? That would be ok.:sneaky:
