If there wasn't an individual identifying mark on the ballot paper how are you going to stop someone photocopying the original blank form 1000 times and skewing the vote to meet their desire?

..and put it in 1000 envelopes and stick 1000 stamps on?

How many governing bodies are required to run a simple sport like fell running in Britain?

    UKA
    EA
    FRA
    SA
    SHR
    WA
    WFRA
    NIAF
    NIMRA
    BOFRA

Do we really want and need another governing organisation?

    Re: Ballot Paper Arrives

Thanks for the english lesson guys (YT publically, GB privately).
GB (privately) went on to tell me that he believes in leadership and management which is what the FRA committee are trying to do. All well and good if the FRA are the executive board of a company trying to make a profit. In our context I think there is an even more important facet of our committee responsibility...representation. This representation should be formulated from fact or sound understanding of the issues but also the uncoloured views of the whole body being represented. That is the origin of the disquiet, not whether the committee is doing a good job which no-one disputes. Trying to lead the vote by reminding the voter that their vote goes against or with the majority view of the committee is blatant colouration whichever way you cut it.

Hey There's only 1 Stick and I ain't stamped on anyone

And...serious post...can please we get away from:-

    a) the perception that this ballot is a vote of confidence in the committee. I'm getting to feel that some people think it is. IT ISN'T!!! And...

    b) the personal insults and slights. I wish everyone would accept that we each have our own right to make our OWN minds up after reaching our views from whatever direction, reading, advice, emotions, whatever!

We're still on one member one vote!

(Oh bugger...I never was any good at keep new year's resolutions )

Erm...technically Xrunner a vote for disaffliation wouldn't add to the number of organisations on your list. In fact it could reduce it by one wouldn't it?

And if UKA wasn't in the picture a little bit of algebra could give FRA + SHR + WFRA + NIMRA equals GBFRA ?

A serial number on the ballot papers, perhaps even just the FRA membership number would have solved the identity problem perhaps?
