    winter rigby

recently back from a successful solo unsupported completion of the Rigby round of the cairngorms. will write something later, but suffice to say the conditions were appalling and it was a matter of survival after the first 10 hours. got really, really lost. took 54 hours without sleep in the end (despite doing first 8 munros out of 18 in 13 hours) due to getting lost and exceptionally demanding conditions. now have frostnipped fingers and feet. An amazing experience to look back on. in good weather and with a moon it would have been a quite different experience (and a much shorter one) but in some ways I'm not sure that it would have been better. once i've got the time I'll write a bit more.

    Thumbs up Re: winter rigby

You're not really selling these Scottish winter trips to me very well John

Sounds like an epic, glad you enjoyed it, thats the sort of trip you'll always remember.

Chapeau! Well done John; I get the impression that it will make for an epic read. I think that we might have a V65 taking a stab at the Rigby this summer??

Fantastic effort John, I'd been thinking about this and wondering wether it was feasible, I'd be interested in youy kit list, not least the amount of food carried.

    Bloody well done that man...

Your perseverance is amazing John. It will be interesting to see in your write up where you got lost.

no but the drive back after 60 hours without sleep was not clever.

    Re: winter rigby

now uploaded my photos to http://johnfleetwood.smugmug.com/Fel...15110480_rbgQA

this was whilst the weather was perfect. 3 hours after this, it started to rain (freezing supercooled rain) and snow and I was in the clag and blowing mank for the next 40 hours. what a contrast! no pictures of that I'm afraid - too wet and cold and concentrating on surviving.
