I ran the Spen 20 this morning.
First person I bumped into was Malcolm Coles who ran the Hobblihike yesterday - so for the weekend, he raced 52 miles - Chapeau!!
There was another chap who did both as well - but couldn't put a name to his face- apologies.
Thanks to Brett and all the marshals for a great morning out in the hills.
That post race chilli certainly had a bit of a kick to it.
I've only run this race before as a solo but this year did it as a pair. It makes it a whole different race as you've got to work as a team and rely / depend on each other for success / failure.
I really enjoyed it and I think I got round quicker this year as a pair than I would have done as a solo. I felt good at the start and led us out to Stoodly - then I started to tire and my pal felt strong so pulled me all the way back to the finish - seeing him trotting off in front made me keep jogging when I would have started walking.
I don't think it should be just pairs (or just solos for that matter) but I'd certainly recommend having a go at both.
My thanks to Brett and all the marshals - another cracking event and for my money the new (old) venue is even better than old (new) one.
Fourth Hobble for me and always in a pair although had three different partners. Agree with N&G that it's good running as a team and you gee eachother along. I liked the new (old) venue too, although I liked Penistone Hill too
