It started when i was given a bottle of bourbon for my 30th, and i don't drink whisky so i brought it along to my first Hobble marshalling day. I was surprised Brett didn't mind, i wondered if elf and safety might get in the way. I was just beginning to discover the world of chronic injury at the time and wasn't running, so needed something to do and marshalling seemed worthwhile.
I'm very impressed with how the new team has kept it going, it's gone from a daft spur of the moment thing to a proper event. My eternal thanks have always gone to the house opposite the CP, who let us use their outside tap every year and saved us carrying water all the way from Haworth.
I might walk it one year.
