    'Father Ted Night'

Did anyone watch the 'Father Ted' night on Channel 4 last night?

It was interesting to watch the documentary with the writers, & contributions from the cast

It simply reminded us all of what a superb show it was, & only 25 episodes!!!

I wonder why Pauline McLynn declined to be involved?

The car wasn't right though, was it??, a Granada L - not a Cortina

The Parochial House is a heck of a lot bigger than the camera angles ever showed it to be (a huge section to the rear)

    High-Light of the show????
Frank Kelly putting the teeth in, & instantly turning to Jack:wink:

Watch it here - available till January 30th

I loved Father Ted when it was on, cracking show. Such a shame he died though or I'm sure there would have been more episodes

Apparently Pauline Mclynn doesn't want to be associated with Mrs Doyle anymore and that's why she didn't appear. I stopped watching after the viewers favourite was revealed, I was very disappointed with the result.

On the plus side I got the box set for Christmas, so have been educating the wife!

shoulda carried on watching graeme....it got better. lovely gentle evenings entertainment. i did not know the story about how dermot died the night they filmed the last ever episode and he and ardal had thrown their dog-collars into the audience. very poignant. just like fawlty towers, this series obeyed the first law of successful showbusiness....always leave the audience wanting more a.k.a. quitting whilst you are ahead.

Or was it the non-revealing camera angles that you were disappointed with????

I know the timescales were wrong (so I believe?), but I'd have given good money to have seen Dave Allen playing a Bishop (or The Pope) in it, & ending up fighting/drinking with Jack

I'm not really a fan of that episode, I always preferred New Jack City or the Plague to name but two.

Mr Thackeray, that is genius! Maybe with the wonders of CGI someone could make that happen. Father Ted kicking the Pope's Arse with Pope being played by Dave Allen...I'm laughing just thinking of it!

We've had the boxed set for a few years now. It's one of those shows we return to time and time again, and it never fails to make us laugh - a classic.

Dave Allen as the Pope ......... genius.

Writers said they'd already decided enough was enough (e.g. running out of ways to illustrate Dougal being stupid).

As to viewers favourite, I really like Speed 3, but I also really like Chirpy Burpy Cheap Sheep (I think that's the title), and the one with the funfair, and the one with the party where the only record they play is Ghost Town...

    I need the box set!
