The all time classic (IMHO) has to be 'Hell'... where they are spending their holiday in the mini-caravan with Noel Furlong ( a very young-looking Graham Norton) and his youth group... the scene where Ted and Dougal are playing hide and seek has to be one of the funniest things I've seen (but its blocked on YouTube.. Booooo)

I also own all of the episodes on DVD, but I still laughed myself hoarse watching 'Kicking Bishop Brennan up the arse' again...!

    Re: 'Father Ted Night'

I think I like possibly the episode 'Cigarettes' Alcohol & Rollerblades' best?

That's the one where they give items up for Lent, & have a Nun stopping with them
Ted tries to tell Dougal, he's met her before, when he was arrested for shoplifting, setting the Police station on fire, being rescued by helicopter, falling into the Tigers at the Zoo
Dougal only remembers when Ted tells him he had his favourite blue jumper on:w00t:

They then find her gorging on Chocolate, & subsequently send her over to Dick Byrne on Rugged Island

Or.... 'Night Of The Nearly Dead' with the singer (Eoin McLove, who was supposed to be Daniel O'Donnell??), & all the old women behave like the Zombies in 'Dawn Of The Dead

Or.... 'The Mainland'... taking Jack for an eyesight test (with the test-chart from 'Fecarse Industries').... Mrs Doyle (& friend) being arrested for fighting in the cafe over paying the bill..... Jack going into the Alcoholics Anonymous meeting..... seeing Richard Wilson at the 'Very Dark Caves', & his subsequently beating Ted up (& later turning up on their doorstep, when lost)

What was the writer's choice as best episode?

    Re: 'Father Ted Night'

I prefer to think of classic momemts rather than one whole episode. The first time I ever saw the programme was when Ted and his pals were attempting to escape from the lingerie section of M&S...bonkers, hysterical and so well observed. And the physical comedy of Mrs Doyle jumping out of the window until she bumped into the reinforced glass one...genius!
