    Footwear

I'm mostly an average road runner but would like to get on the (mild) fells more. What kind of footwear should I be using?

I have a pair of Walsh's and occasionally suffer from plantar fasciitis (sp?).

I'm also wondering about the Winter League events here in the Kendal area. Are they recommended for beginners?

    Re: Footwear

If your Walshes fit wear them. Just get out and run

I've not done any of the Winter League races but would have thought they'd be ideal for a relative beginner

Thanks, DT... I'd seen those videos and thought they might be a good place to start. It doesn't strike me as too elite.

Kendal Winter league starts this Sunday at Scout Scar near Kendal. If you are reasonably fit (compared to avg man in street) then this race is very doable. See Helm Hill webiste for full details. Walshes are ideal.

Don't these have gortex? - waste of money in fell shoes. I agree Roclites are quite a good all round trail/easy fell shoe.

    I would agree -
Jake who is 7 has used these across most types of terrain -rocks, scree, waterfalls, ice and snow plus winter hill bogs without issue
