    Stan Bradshaw Pendle Round

The organisers have finalised the route for the new race for Stan Bradshaw which will replace the Half Tour Of Pendle. I know some have been disappointed by the changes from the Half Tour route, but the organisers have been considering these for a couple of years to ease the erosion on parts of the hill.

The proposed check points are shown below. Maps will be available from Pete Bland Sports.

Start Car park entrance in Barley Village GR823403
CP1 Gate beyond trig point GR805418
    CP2 Scout Cairn GR789413
CP3 Gate to Calf Hill GR779386
    CP4 Wood House Brook-wall/stream GR797385
    CP5 Dam-Upper Ogden Resr. GR807396
CP6 Fell Gate at Buttock GR807401
Finish Outside Barley Village Hall GR822402

Comments on the route are welcome and will be taken into account when considering next year's race.

Should be a good one. There's a bit of scope for route choice, and at least it will carve a different scar on the mountain!

It'll be interesting to see if the faint trod from the scout cairn to the ogden clough track becomes better defined over the next couple of months. Would have been useful last friday night; would have saved me trotting around in confusion for half an hour!

Just back from an aborted recce actually. On way to CP1 I realised I might have got a bit too excited in having a rare afternoon pass out from BH, & forgotten to check what time they shut the car park! I didn't fancy getting back to find myself locked in so decided to just have a bit of fun: got to CP2, turned round and then did the end of FTOP and wound my way back to Barley. Lucky, as when I put my headtorch on, the battery was dying & wouldn't have got me round a longer run.

Next weeks CTJM? will defo be a recce of this route, leaving Barley car park usual time: Sat 0800(ish!).

That wasn't you SS (in a red top like me) I passed as I was running up to the trig this afternoon and you were running down from it?

No, I was in blue. Next time I'll wear a carnation!

Was up quite late, started 1545, on top just as the sun was setting (very pretty ) and descended in the dark.
