    Sticky Studs

I find my Glads fine on most surfaces, but wet rock is a disaster. I was skating around on the few rocky bits of the Fairfield on Saturday, and for some races feel I need something with stickier rubber.

I've tried on Inov-8s, and apart from their reputation for falling apart, they just didn't seem to fit me. Is there anyone out there who can suggest something stickier, suitable for rocks to fit a Gladiator foot or point me to a previous thread on this subject?

Hmm, sounds like the Glads may be like the old ETA after all.....

Grip on a fellshoe is always a compromise. Given that situation I don't think anyone has has bettered the Walsh PB. Trouble is, they have no soles available at the moment...

I have a pair of Walsh Ultras. Any idea how well they grip on rock?

Have you considered either a VJ integrator or Twister with metal studs set in the rubber studs

I was wearing Walsh PB Xtremes for Saturdays Fairfield Horseshoe and slipped and went on my backside around Dove Crag. I lost a bit of confidence after that and slowed right down on the rocky descents.

This may be a lack of experience on my part though.

I'd say PBs grip better than any other studded fell shoe in all conditions. Obviouisly they wont grip on wet rock like five-tennies but they are much better than other fell shoes. My Inov-8 Roclite 285s are good on rock but next to useless in mud or wet grass. The Walshes are pretty good on anything.

Yes I must agree, apart from wet rock the PBs are great for the fells.
