I'll have to find some wet rock to try out my Walsh Ultras. If they're the same compound as the standard PBs, sounds like I should be in with a chance. The downside is that they rub a bit more than the Glads but they were just about OK on the Mickleden. Oh, well another fellrunning compromise!

I love Gladiators. They are superior to everything for comfort and grip but not on wet rock. No problem on rough South Pennine gritty rock but I wouldn't race in them on Lakeland rock.

I also think Gladiators are really fantastic comfortable shoes with great grip - except on certain types of wet rock. For comfort I think they are superior to Walshes. Having said that, I do think that PB's are the best compromise and, as usual, are outlasting all newcomers in terms of popularity. Why stick with one brand? Perhaps have a different types for different types of terrain?

But...I think confidence and agility has at least as much to do with speed over wet rock as the type of rubber. If you think you're going to slip you definitely will! Just go for it and don't worry about your grip!!
