Walk a lot and quickly. Probably not that helpful a tip... Never had much trouble with nav, although if the mist is down then you have to work quite hard for it. Going through Chapel-en, print out something like google maps with the road names, it can save a big faff.
Eat regularly otherwise you'll be flat out of gas going through goyt and the last couple of proper climbs. The food stops are excellent and rather difficult to leave - don't sit down!
'Normal' people are the ones you don't know very well.
One of our team has had to withdraw through injury and we're looking for a replacement runner. If you fancy a 40ish miler from Holmbridge to Buxton over the moors then send me a private message. Info on the event at www.fourinnswalk.org
Cheers
If you've got a sweet tooth, go easy on the bowls of sweets at each checkpoint; I paid the price for not resisting the temptation
Ive a friends daughter doing this from penrith scouts. She's a blonde and a bit dizzy. Where does it finish I might pop over after the skyline.
Might have a wonder out on to Blackhill tomorrow or bleaklow to cheer a few teams through. Any Forumites taking this on.
Looks like an extended TT to me, is it a fixed route bor can you use your maps skills to pick a quicker route.
If you are list your team no and I'll see try and say hi
Ian - teams are numbered but there are no (paper) numbers (if you get my meaning!?!), so you can't recognise anyone - teams'll be in 3s or 4s, though.
There are some route choices but not a lot, just best lines that runners tend to know but walkers don't bother about. Most route choice is on Bleaklow.
