    Re: Four Inns - 2nd April 2011

We are the "Wanna Blistas" (don't ask)
    me + 3 Stockport Harriers
2 of them are lasses who are keen but currently undertrained due to illness/injury, so if one/both of them bow out we might be on the look out for subs at some point

Looking for 2-3 forumites who have done 35+ to form a team for this. I know the first 1/2 & the last 1/4 really well. Looking for a 10-11 hour schedule.

gulp! is this really this coming Saturday?! :w00t:
    I suppoooose I feel ready...

    Team Wanna Blista
had one withdrawal, but we've drafted in a new 4th, so we are now All Systems Go

we reckon we're looking at something between 10 hours (optimistic) and 12 hours (realistic)

    Re: Four Inns

    what a FANTASTIC event!
military style organisation (my first experience of route cards and dog tags)
well stocked checkpoints (lost count of the number of potted meat sarnies and custard creams I ate)
superb route (basically a north-south traverse of the Dark Peak) shown off to particular effect by the glorious weather
I decided that 40M was a bit short for what I wanted to do training wise, so took my team on a bonus tour of Bleaklow, costing us about an hour and a quarter , despite which we still managed to finish just as it was going dark in 12:46, and 3rd novice team!
will DEFINITELY do this event again
    10/10

Agreed, we also thoroughly enjoyed it, and will be back next year.
I also saw the need for a bonus tour of Bleaklow but felt 20 mins was nearer the mark
And we definitely weren't the only ones Daz.

We would have missed out on the novice trophy by 1 minute but one of our 4 person team retired at Chapel so weren't ranked. Would have been gutted if we'd finished 2 mins earlier!
Apparently teams of either 3 or 4 are eligible but if you start with a team of 4 and finish as 3 you're not eligible to win the trophies, which seems a bit harsh on the 4 person teams who have a greater chance of dropping a team member.
Does anyone else think this is slightly quirky?

agreed. It's my 5th completion and definitely the most enjoyable. at most checkpoints the tables were groaning under the weight of snackage! I had a little grumble just before the Whitehall checkpoint, because of the extra distance, but was then confronted wth the option of Rice Pudding and Jam! brilliant.

route choice and navigation were spot on for us and considering one of our team members hadn't gone further than 17miles before we were well chuffed just to get round. cherry on the pie was breaking 13hrs (12:49), slightly miffed to miss out on overtaking Daz in the Race Ladder by a paltry 3 mins!

Did any one else get a Garmin trace of the route? I had previosuly thought the ascent totalled c4500ft, but was pleasently surprised to find my trace recorded 7400ft!

and yes, the team rule is slightly quirky but it's prossibly there to prevent usingone member as a pacer.

    Re: Four Inns

Other than the High Peak Marathon does anyone know of other "teams of four" type events of similar distance?
