here's something to inspire (or maybe not) Bill and others. My little film is finished and can be viewed in two parts on youtube at:

Brings it all back!
intersting - anyone wanting to do the race next year has to have done one of the named qualifying races (or two depending on the points that have been awarded to that race) - all races to be considered have to have been submitted by the time entries open (last year this was January)
At the moment there are 11 british races listed including the BG, Fellsman, OMM and various other long distance trail races
The list of qualifying races is linked from this page:

The opening date for 2008 inscriptions is not yet given.
This information will be available in November:

always better to have some-one who knows how to do links and things...
also you have to have done the races in 2006 or 2007.
you having another go saz? I'm planning to do so, hopefully injury free this time. I've taken 2 months out from running to try to put it right - been poling my round the local hills though. Will take plenty of iboprufen next time, just in case. won't rely on those ultra dry nature valley bars either.
Perhaps the list of qualifying races will prevent all 2500 places vanishing quite so fast for 2008, but I kind of doubt it. I suspect anyone interested in entering will make sure they have valid races on the list beforehand.
Saz - are you going to enter again for 2008 after your experiences the past couple of years?
I tried it in 2006, but had a miserable time dropping out after less than 3 hours at Les Contamines with a crocked back, and then getting frozen getting back to the hotel near Chamonix. Not sure whether to bother trying again... I wasn't that keen on all the hype and scrum atmosphere, but I daresay it thins out a bit later on...
Both - I'll probably have another go, but at the moment, not 2008 - its a race that for me you spend most of the first part of the year focusing on and the rest recovering from.
Also I need to be clear about what I will do differently next time to prevent the same problems occuring, ie I would not want to do it again if it was to be another 34 hour plus crawl -
FMA - beware, it has been suggested to me that part of my problems later on in the race might have been due to too much iboprufen leading to absorbtion problems from the gut/stomach
