    12.44 for 100 miles!

Ian Sharman, a Brit now living in the US ran 12.44 in the Rocky Racoon 100 miler at the weekend.

The US 100 mile road record is not much faster at 12.12!

    Report on iRunFar here:

    http://www.irunfar.com/2011/02/ian-s...se-record.html

    And Ian's own report here:

    http://sharmanian.blogspot.com/2011/...se-record.html

And an interview with him after the race with Bryon Powell of iRunFar here:

    http://www.irunfar.com/2011/02/ian-s...interview.html

    That is FAST; 7.38/mile average!

That's some going, no excuse for being late for work for that man.

That's ridiculously fast - I don't think I could manage 20 miles at that pace, let alone 100. In fact, the 5 miles to work this morning averaged at 7:57... gobsmacking! Well run that man.

No hitting the wall, no cramp, no abdominal distress, no troublesome moving parts, no significant slowing - he was doing lots of things right. Amazing!

And here's Tony Krupicka's report; he "only" clocked 13.18 for second:

I'm absolutely gobsmacked. "Well done" seems so inadequate under the circumstances.

That's about half of my 100 mile time!
I wonder how he would do on the BGR?
