It's very tempting to miss out Fairfield via the screes if time / light is tight :closed:

I was good - I did Fairfield via the screes - glad I did too, as the view was spectacular with the sun low in the sky
I was amazed though to find a tent on the summit! - rocks round the apron, voices from inside... very tempting to knock on and ask for a brew
tbh I didn't think much of the screes route - thinking I might drop the wall route off Dollywagon and go for Grisedale Hause...

it was Dollywagon and Seat Sandal I missed out (dropped Raise Beck)

Hi Daz, I could make that. What time are you intending to start?

    re 13th April:

intending early (9am or earlier) start from Borrowdale

Greenup Gill up to High Raise

    L3 to Wasdale

then as many of the later bits of L4 (from Black Sail Pass onwards) as can cram in before return to Borrowdale before it goes dark
(looking at at least 9 hours out, maybe more)

anyone accompanying would be quite welcome to leave me to it at Wasdale and head straight back over Styhead

I'm trying to get usage of the car for that Wednesday Daz. I'd like to get a decent recce of leg 3 in so if I make it I'd drop out at Wasdale and head home. I'll let you know.

    Re: Leg 3 Navigator Needed

    over ten hours out yesterday
    great training
    feeling fitter
only got as far as Scafell Pike though, then came back via Corridor/Styhead
lost quite a lot of time navving myself in clag

    basically confirmed that:

I definitely need a dedicated Leg 3 Navigator...

    Re: Leg 3 Navigator Needed

    hmmm
looking increasingly likely that I'll be navving myself then :w00t:

what I think I'll do is print off a load of blown-up map fragments and mark them up with bearings and "rally co-driver" type notes

if I'm still compos mentis I'll run the nav myself

if not, I can off-load the maps/notes onto one of my supporters - that way I will still effectively be navving myself, so if we go wrong it will be my fault for not making the "instructions" completely fool-proof
last thing I want is for my supporters to feel sorry for us losing time
