plenty of stood marks on the race line yesterday and there were a couple of runners ascending Clough head as I was finishing my run.

In the Fellrunner home page it is given as 15 miles and about 4500feet. A new race venue, probably out and back I would guess.

I'm in. My first fell race proper. I've been up in lakes for a couple of months and ran most of leg 2 (to Helvellyn) last week in grim weather.....and loved it.

So what was it like? I was up at Castlerigg Farm for the weekend, all set to do this. And the car wouldn't start

Didn't go either. Hungover after watching the champ league final. I did just make it out up from Dunmail to have a look at start leg 3 of BG, couldn't get moving and ended up turning back at calf crag - very poor effort and will have to make up for it tomorrow....

I was so glad I did this today-the weather was awful in the morning and I nearly didnt go either but it had cleared by the start time and completely dry for the race. We did have horrific winds to deal with though and running into it on the way out just made things harder. Its a cracking, lovely grassy route but dont be fooled into thinking that its a nice ridge run with a pleasant descent-the course undulated all the way and the climbs on the return leg felt even worse with tired legs! Big thankyou to the organisers, marshalls (who nearly got blown away) and of couse the brill ladies from Threlkeld cricket club who provided us with a wonderful "cricket tea" afterwards. Dont know about anybody else but im KNACKERED this was a much harder race than I expected but also really good!!!
