    Re: 10k pace

So far this winter I have just been doing long slow miles since October and have bult slowly from 35 to 60, and am already hitting last years pb already, before christmas at Langdale and this weekend at the jack crawford (and this was the end of a 60 mile week) so it will be interesting to see what happens as the seasons progress and speed work is added.

Still hoping to break 40min! Of course this is all with the Lakes classics in mind not speed so we will see, but long slow miles make you faster!
Is it meant to be this hard?

I think I'm also trying to break 40 min but in the opposite direction! Have done 4 consecutive 10K races in the last 4 weekends, 39.55, 39.43, 39.51 and on Sunday after all this effort on a flat course 39.34. At last year's Salford 10K I was on 36.28!!! I'm mostly a fell runner, I do about 40 fell races a year plus another 20 - 30 assorted road and cross country races as I have done for many years now - what am I doing wrong????

Maybe I should drop fell running and road running and move onto cross country - no steep bits and no focus on times! Deestriders' race tonight fits the bill!
