Apart from the 50 odd mountains in Scotland that are higher than Snowdon.

Fair point all the same, though. There is something enticing about it.

    ?

There's about 150 more peaks that are higher than Snowdon north of the Border.

I'm not doing it as I have the WHW in June and tend to be injured afterwards, the missus is entering though.

You were right Geoff, Snowdon would be about the 57th highest, I thought there would be lots higher. They always feel higher, especially on the west coast as you tend to start from sea level so climb the full height.

I know what you mean, Iain, especially when compared to an ascent of Snowdon starting from Pen y Pass.

Just think about about the effort required to get up any of the Cuillin hills compared to Snowdon, and they don't even top 1000m.

The Cuillin was what I was thinking off, the first peak on the Ridge, Gars Bhein (is it?), such a drag to get up.

We walked around to do the Dubhs ridge, grabbed a pile of fresh mussels, then climbed back over to Glen Brittle and cooked them up, made it all worth while.

The second of the 'three peaks' was sort of what I meant, but I will admit my ignorance regarding the number of Scottish peaks higher than Snowdon.

And to think my mum's Scottish. She'd be so ashamed of me!

I'm entering - I love North Wales - first time for this race too. Plus in keeping with this thread I should hopefully have had my first crack at the Cuillin ridge by then. Roll on those lighter evenings and a chance to get our more.

    Re: Snowdon

Done Snowdon a few times it used to be ok but now with the need for it to make good telly,
the creeping commercialism, and no free food it has lost it`s charm so its Ben Rinnes for me.
I will still be running Snowdon Marathon though
The older I get the Faster I was
