"That was the night everything changed"
Absolute tragic day.
I didnt record it this morning and came in tonight and set sky to tape the highlights. I set my rollers up outside and started pedalling. In usual style i couldnt resist clicking the cycling app which confirmed what you guys had posted. I climbed off the rollers and hung up the bike.
Rip a tragic loss to the world of cycling.
Just seen this news, tragic, so so sad. R.I.P. my thoughts go out to his family and freinds.
In moments like this it always makes me thing how lucky we are to be alive, live every moment you can, the best you can.
No racing today - the stage has been neutralised. Latest news from Eurosport is that Leopard-Trek will cross the finish line first today and then Tyler Farrar (a close friend and near neighbour of Weylandt) will retire from the race this evening.
I'm glad Leopard Trek have decided to continue to ride the tour at the request of Weylandt's family, I think it's the right thing to do. I also think it may push riders from the team into giving the performances of there lives in honor of there lost team mate.

Strikes me as odd considering it was the families wishes that they continue to race. I know the team must be finding it incredibly difficult themselves, but you would have thought that first and foremost they would race out of respect for the family.
Speaking of respect for the family I don't think there was any need for the images published by la gazzetta dello sport today. Very bad show

Motorola continued with the Le Tour in 1995 after Casartelli's death (although it was toward the back end of the tour) but that's not to say this should always be the case. It must be a very difficult time for the team and all involved.
