    Paddy Buckley Start Place

I am confused as to the pros and cons of the PB starting place.
Nick Wallis started at Aberglaslyn, all the Eryri attempts start in Llanberis but all the 'famous' ones have started at Plas y Brenin.
What are the pros and cons of each place?

Having tried but failed on the PBR, I reckon that the hardest sections are the Capel Curig to Aberglaslyn followed by Aberglaslyn to Rhyd Ddu/ Cae Gors so on a clockwise round starting at Capel would have the hardest bits first. I think that these two sections are the ones that you want in daylight anyway. It follows that wherever you start, you need to set off at a time that allows for that.

I started at Aberglaslyn but high winds put paid to any chance of getting round.

Ultimately it is down to what you feel is most likely to bring you success.

Agree with Bob, the classic starts are Capel around tennish in the morning or Aberglaslyn around 5 ish in the evening, so you get darkness on Snowdon - Llyn Y Cwn, which most people feel is the easiest section to do in the dark.

However its very personal what section each person likes. I find Aber - Pont Caer Gors the hardest section so am now tempted for an evening start there.

I didn't know that Eryri favoured a starting point, most I've spoken to have said Capel or Aber. I don't think Eryri have had a round for a while have they?

I spoke to someone from Eryri recently and I just assumed from the way they
were talking that most of their attempts started in Llanberis. I do know that some of the club are hoping to give it a go this summer.

Red face Re: Paddy Buckley Start Place

I'm seriosuly considering an attempt this year having pondered it for about ten. Of course I'm not properly prepared, that would be far too sensible; just a bloody good go will do the job.

I'm fairly local, and my plan was to start at Llanberis at about tea time. The reason for this is nothing to do with where i'll be at any particular time, but more to do with arriving outside Pete's Eats for tea afterwards if I'm successful!!!

Pete's is open till later in the summer so if I go over the 24 it doesn't matter too much!

Excellent attitude Craig. Reckon you should start and finish with a slap up tea in Petes eats!

Not sure about starting with one as it would probably resurface about halfway up Elidir Fawr; but I'll certainly be there afterwards. Sausage egg chips and beans will be the right medicine, along with a pint mug of tea with 58 sugars.
