know how you feel iain. my toes are constantly horrible now. they might recover quicker than you think though. put a good padding on them and take a break from running. Thats the unpallatable truth - only a rest will sort it out! I'm having to take my own medicine right now with severe shin splints. 2 months to go to tour du mont blanc so need to be physically idle for a while.

    Is that the ultra?

I've entered the ballot for next year.

Cheers for the advice, I've been swimming but I could feel them flapping in the water and also road riding most nights, so will see how I go.

I'm meant to start pre season football training this week but they don't really understand when I say I can't kick a ball.

The dogs have an annoying habit of stepping on my toes too, poor things keep getting shouted at when they are just being playful.

yes am doing the ultra so need to recover fully for that or any weakness will be exposed.

i know what you mean about having your toes stepped on - I often wear sandals to air my feet but people have an irritating habit of standing on your toes sometimes and with black toes that HURTS!

Eeeuurrrggghhh! Horrid toe stories! I feel sick!
If you have a painful blood blister under a nail, unfold a paper clip, heat up the blunt end till its red hot and then gently hold it pointed into the nail. It will melts its way through and relieve the painful pressure. Sounds bad but its painless...trust me!

May try that. The missus wouldn't plug the drill in for me today so opted against the power tool approach!
