Thread: Paddy Buckley Start Place

    Re: Paddy Buckley Start Place

Thanks for the offers of support, I have to confess I've done absolutely nothing to organise anything and I'm still not definately doing it due to being particularly busy with work at the moment; I haven't had a chance to even think about it. Maybe that's a good thing.

Will cast my mind over it this week and make a decision. The blue moon certainly sounds appealing, and my thoughts on a Llanberis start are beginning to be reconsidered with the thought of the Carneddau being easier running in the latter stages (if I get that far!).

I'm getting old enough to realise that my opportunities for a successful 24 hour attempt are diminishing rapidly as I'm 37. I'm feeling fit and going well but lacking in real distance training, tho I do have the ability to keep going in a comatose state. I actually fell asleep whilst walking on the West Highland Way Race in 2002, only woke up when I started falling over! So maybe this is the year to have a go.

My main fear is getting lots of people to turn up and help only to make a hash of it and waste everyone's time.

    Someone persuade me!!!

I don't think you have to worry about that Craig, failure is a fact of life on these rounds, even for the best prepared and super talented etc. The only way you'll ensure you never fail is to never start.
And that's not an option is it?

Either you have a crack at it this time, and see what happens, or you seriously target it and train for next year. I'm sure if you try now and it all falls apart, all helpers will be there again next year.

And what's all this c**p about 'getting old' .

Mm, I'm starting to warm to the idea of the 30th. There might be some support at work for that weekend as well. Will REALLY think about it this week!

I think you're right about accepting that failure it a real possibility and just to go for it and see what happens. Either way it'll be a laugh (tho a painful one) and will be great experience.

I'll be around the area, does anyone know his schedule?

That's where I found the info, can't tell you anymore but thought it may be of interest to any of you in Snowdon this weekend.

Thanks for the interest everyone. Given the indifferent forecast I'm now aiming for a 19 hour schedule, and as always will just see how well the legs and stomach keep going!!! So estimated times are:

    Llanberis 03.30
    Ogwen 06.38
    Capel 09.14
    Quarries 12.24
    Aberglaslyn 14.58
    Pont Cae'r Gors 18.25

My parents are supporting each road crossing, so if anyone's in the area look out for a blue Ford Focus estate.
